Wondering Where Your Sex Drive Went? Want to Get it Back?
- Posted on: Sep 4 2015
For most people, sex is an important part of their lives. It can have a dramatic impact on your relationships and even make or break a marriage. Often times, as men and women get older, their libido can begin to take a sharp turn in the wrong direction. For men, this can result in issues with Erectile dysfunction, loss of ability, and desire. For women, they just don’t “feel” the desire anymore.
All of this has lead to a booming market of prescription drugs, pills, powders, and devices all geared to help you get your mojo back. They are even trying to get FDA approval for a “female Viagra”. However, none of these products address the actual cause of symptoms, and in many cases comes with risks and side effects.
What if there was a way to not only get your sex drive back, but to have more energy, sleep better, lose weight, and have a better overall quality of life?
Hormonal Balance…the Key to a Healthy Sex Drive!
Male Hormonal Imbalance
As we age, our naturally occurring hormones begin to decline. In men, their testosterone usually peaks in their mid 20’s and begins to decline after that at the rate of about 1-2% each year. There are also other factors that can accelerate the decline in a man’s testosterone such as environmental toxins, poor diets, stress, and medications.
When a man’s testosterone gets low he can begin to experience the symptoms of Andropause (low testosterone). These symptoms can include fatigue, weight gain (especially around the belly), insomnia, anxiety, irritability, decreased mental sharpness and drive, loss of muscle mass, and of course issues with low libido and sexual function.
Testosterone lab values generally range between 300 ng/dL and 1050 ng/dL, and falling anywhere in this range is considered “normal”. This wide range means that one man can have nearly three times more total testosterone than another man, but both can still be “normal”. Also, this range does not take into account the age of the man. So, a 30-year-old man can have the same testosterone level as an 8o year old man, and yet be told he is “in the range”. However, he is NOT going to feel good at that level.
Men feel the best and are at their most healthy when their testosterone is restored to their peak levels. Restoring a man’s declining testosterone levels with Bio-Identical testosterone can restore a man’s libido as well as alleviate the other symptoms associated with andropause!
Female Hormonal Imbalance
Contrary to what many people may think, Testosterone is not a “Male hormone”. Men and women make the exact same hormones, just in different ratios. Though women make much lower amounts of testosterone, the amount they do make is very important for their health, well-being, and libido!
Just as with men, women too begin to lose their testosterone as they age. After menopause, testosterone production drops significantly. For women who have had their ovaries removed, testosterone production immediately drops by roughly 50 percent.
Menopause is the condition people are most familiar with. When a woman goes through menopause her estrogen levels will drop drastically. This can lead to vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, anxiety, and of a lack of sexual desire.
Another hormonal cause of low libido in women is called Estrogen Dominance. Estrogen dominance is when a woman does not produce enough progesterone to balance out the estrogen in her body. This can occur in both pre and post-menopausal women.
By restoring a woman’s hormonal balance with Bio-Identical Hormones; she can improve her moods, quality of sleep, mental sharpness, energy levels, weight, and her libido!
Non-Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation
There are new and exciting treatments to treat the concerns of vaginal dryness and Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome (vaginal looseness).
Vulvo-Vaginal Atrophy is a thinning of the vaginal walls that occurs as estrogen levels drop during menopause, which causes vaginal dryness and painful intercourse.
The MonaLisa Touch procedure addresses vagina dryness through the use of a state-of-the-art laser to stimulate the vaginal mucosa, which regenerates and “rejuvenates” the vaginal tissue to a healthy state. The procedure is virtually painless and takes only a few minutes with no downtime. Treated patients can resume sexual activity after 48 hours. Most patients report a noticeable increase in lubrication and mucosal elasticity after the first treatment! For optimal results a course of 3 sessions is recommended spaced 6 weeks apart, with maintenance treatments once every year or as needed.
Vaginal relaxation syndrome (VRS) is defined as laxity, or looseness, of the vaginal wall. VRS can result in loss of friction and sexual satisfaction during intercourse. The most common cause of vaginal relaxation syndrome is the overstretching of the vaginal walls during vaginal childbirth. The effects VRS can increase with each subsequent birth. Natural aging and hormonal decline also contribute to VRS. As hormone levels drop, the vaginal walls thin out and become less elastic.
The BTL Ultra Femme procedure uses radio frequency energy to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production to restore the vagina to a more youthful state. Ultra Femme helps to decreases the diameter of the introitus (vaginal opening) and the vaginal canal, improves natural lubrication, improves sensation.
The IntimaLase procedure is a unique laser therapy for non-surgical, non-invasive tightening of the vaginal canal. During the procedure, the vaginal canal is treated with short non-ablative laser pulses through a small hand piece. The patented laser heats the vaginal tissue in a special way that causes stimulation of collagen. This stimulation will lead to more collagen formation and a tighter, younger feel to the vaginal.
Non-Surgical Labial Rejuvenation
Labial Hypertophy is defined as the enlargement of the labia minora. Traditionally, in cases where the labia minora extends beyond the labia majora to a degree that can cause cause pain with clothing, exercise, or sexual activity, or where the appearance is becomes a personal issue, some women elect to have a surgical procedure to reduce the size of the labia minora called a labiaplasty. However, there are now new technological advances that can help to reduce the size and improve the laxity of labia without resorting to surgery.
The BTL Ultra Femme procedure, in addition to vaginal rejuvenation, can also address labial hypertrophy through a process called “labial remodeling”.During the procedure the entire vulvar area is heated using radio frequency to stimulate collagen synthesis and blood supply for rejuvenation resulting in a lifting and tightening of the labia minor and heightened sensitivity.
The O-Shot & G-Shot
The O-Shot uses Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) which is derived from the patient’s own blood and injected into the clitoris and the anterior vaginal wall. PRP contains at least 7 different growth factors that cause new tissue growth with better function including greater arousal from clitoral stimulation, Increased vaginal lubrication, and Stronger and more frequent orgasms. There is no downtime and very little, if any, pain during the injection.
The G-Shot has been widely studied and proven to provide women with greater sexual satisfaction after treatment. It is a quick, simple and painless in-office procedure that temporarily augments, or enlarges the g-spot with results that typically last 6 months. The G-Shot is ideal for women who have difficulty achieving vaginal orgasm.
These treatments work very well for women who suffer from low libido and are also on Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy to correct any hormone imbalances that can lead to low libido.
