As you’ve grown older or experienced lifestyle changes you may have started noticing blue, red or purple veins below the surface of your skin. These are known as spider veins. While they pose no health threat, many patients often find them unsightly and desire treatment.
Spider veins are common for both men and women. They often appear around the knees and ankles or anywhere else that stress occurs on the legs. If you are pregnant, have gained weight or work in an environment that requires many hours on your feet – then spider veins may begin to appear.
Until recently, the only options to eliminate spider veins were surgery or injections. Dr. Shel is happy to now offer a much more comfortable treatment in laser spider vein removal. Laser spider vein removal can be used on the legs, ankles, and in some cases on the face. This quick and simple treatment will dramatically improve the appearance of your spider veins in just one or two treatments.
The laser works by gently heating the blood vessels below the surface. This process causes the vein’s wall to collapse and eventually disappear from view. Depending on the size of the vein, some are removed from view immediately while others may take up to four months to completely disappear.
There is no downtime associated with laser spider vein removal. You can return to your normal activities the same day without the use of compression stockings but we discourage excessive activity for 3 days post treatment.

It depends on both the severity of the veins we are treating along with the location of the veins. In some cases a single treatment can work, but often times multiple treatments will be required to eliminate 100% of the veins. Some areas of high movement and pressure, such as the ankles, typically require more treatments than other areas. To find out how many treatments you would require, you would need to come in for a free consultation. We’d be happy to advise you on your particular needs and answer any other questions you many have. Please give us a call at (281) 313-7435, or Click Here to request a consultation online. I hope this helps!
