Navigating Restaurants and Social Gatherings on hCG

eating-out-on-hcg-300x199One of the most frequent questions that we hear and the toughest challenges to overcome while doing hCG is navigating social gatherings, parties, and eating in restaurants.

With a little planning ahead of time, you can still successfully follow your eating plan, while maintaining your social life!

-Do a Little Research. First, if you are going to a restaurant, pull up the menu online before you go and scope out what might be a good option for you. Your lean meats like chicken and seafood are always a good choice. Can they be cooked without any oil? Steamed? A small portion of lean steak is also a good choice. *Ask about marinades! Lots of meat is marinated in oil and sugar, so be careful.

Salads are good, but be sure that they sneak in any ingredients that are not allowed on the program. Lemon juice can be used as a dressing or bring your own hCG friendly dressing in a small container.

-Take Your ‘Advanced Weight Support‘ beforehand. If you’re not familiar with this product, it’s a wonderful supplement that blends herbs and enzymes to help curb your hunger. You can take it with a glass of water before you go to a restaurant or party to ease your need to nosh and help you resist temptation.

Enjoy A Drink. Drink options can feel limited on hCG, but at a restaurant, try ordering Club soda with lemon or lime. You can even add a little Stevia to make it seem more like a soda. And of course, Iced Tea with lemon is a good option.

-Sneak Some Snacks. If you’re going to a social gathering and have no idea what will be served, pack a baggie full of chopped veggies. Or bring your own party food-lettuce wraps are fun option!

When temptation presents itself, remind yourself that it’s only a short amount of time that you’re following the ‘VLCD’ portion of the program and it is well worth it! Later, you can indulge, but now is the time to focus on reaching your goals!
